Who is behind
La Molienda?
Adrianna
Roaster / Importer / Sales Manager
Originally from Poland, she knows everything there is to know about coffee and understands the entire journey ‘from plant to cup.’ She wrote her master’s thesis on fair coffee trade, gained experience in import and export, and was trained by Juan Carlos Alarcón Lotero, a Q Grader of the Specialty Coffee Association, in the quality characteristics of coffee. He also introduced her to the science of coffee tasting.
In Denmark, she worked at a coffee roastery, where she learned the craft of roasting. After gaining extensive experience around the world, she now brings her expertise to the roasting drum and is responsible for the exceptional quality of our coffee.
Juan
Colombian Orgin Connection
Juan grew up among coffee plants and, in the Colombian Andes, gained extensive knowledge of coffee cultivation and the relationship between nature and farmers. As a PhD engineer, driven by constant curiosity, he is always looking to optimize processes and above all, making them as sustainable as possible.
What we do
Our family runs coffee farms in Colombia, from where we import our green coffee directly to Oldenburg. Thanks to this close connection to Colombia, we are able to actively influence the cultivation process and promote a respectful relationship with nature.
We are, in a way, the local extension of our coffee farm here in Oldenburg. To ensure that the people working on the farm in Colombia can make a good living and that you can enjoy exceptional coffee whose origin you know we roast the coffee and sell it to private customers, hospitality clients, and offices. We roast weekly according to demand to guarantee maximum freshness.
To reliably supply our customers at all times, we have established a two tier sourcing system. In addition to our own production, we source additional coffee when needed through our export partner, giving us direct access to other coffee farmers.
Was wir machen
What is important for us
Social responsibility
For us, social justice is not only expressed in financial terms, but also in the way we treat one another with respect. We walk this path together with everyone involved, always interacting as equals. Everyone plays an equally important role in our success, and therefore everyone should benefit as much as possible—both financially and socially. To ensure this, we intentionally keep our structures small.
Direct Trade
We are witnessing how our neighbors are gradually giving up coffee farming. We want to counteract this by breaking away from conventional coffee trade structures and taking a different path direct trade.
The tradition of Colombian coffee cultivation
is becoming increasingly difficult to sustain. External factors such as market prices, climate change, and generational shifts all contribute to this challenge.
Our coffee story
“I want to give the product a face and show how much passion and work goes into a single cup of coffee.”

2014

Our first direct import of roasted coffee
from our family farm, selling it to friends and acquaintances in Oldenburg. It wasn’t long before the idea emerged to import the coffee as green beans and roast it ourselves. No sooner said than done La Molienda was born.
2015

Beginning of the partnership with "The Coffee Quest"
Meeting Ronald at the Coffee Campus in Berlin had a lasting impact on our supply chain. We make use of shared transport opportunities for our own coffee sacks, which are then delivered directly to us in Oldenburg.
2015

Our first direct import of twelve sacks of green coffee
which we initially had roasted on a contract basis at Lloyd Kaffeerösterei, inspired us to look for roasteries that would allow us to roast our coffees in smaller batches.
2015

Partnership with Cross Coffee in Bremen
This proved to be a great way to roast coffee in small batches rather than by the sack. Initially, we had the coffee roasted for us, but later we started roasting it ourselves.
2020

The partnership with the Kaffeerösterei Baum
was the next step on our journey toward our own roastery. During the pandemic, this allowed us to carry out our roasting professionally and prepare for the opening of our own roasting facility.
2020/2021

Finally, the time had come!
We found a space in an industrial area in Oldenburg and were able to order a Coffed R15 roaster right away!
